Hello! I am Diana Parkhouse. I am 35 years old and live in Nottingham, UK. I share my home with my husband of four years, and with our four feline charges. Since August 2010 I have been running the art project, www.thisissadface.com. SAD FACE is a mixed media cat illustration about life, love, friendship, depression, and cake. As part of the project, I created an online shop through etsy.com where I sell original illustrations, prints, cards and other SAD FACE ephemera (find the shop here). What the project has helped me realise is that as an artist, my work and ideas are well received, and that with hard work and commitment, I can create an income from it. SAD FACE, however, does have a limited market (the works can get pretty depressing!), and for some time I have had my thinking hat on, working on new ideas for my art. Recently I've been developing a new series of artworks which I am really excited about. This new series has extremely broad appeal, and I am excited at the prospect of making these new works available to the public. This time I do not want to limit myself or the artworks to online sales methods only, and I am desperately keen to take the new series out into the world to arts and craft fairs in and around Nottingham, and even further afield. But unlike the SAD FACE Etsy shop, where I am able to manage work flow on an order by order basis, I now need to have the stock ready for sale prior to customer purchase. This of course requires a financial investment, creating the products that I am going to sell, like prints and gift ware, and this is where Crowdfunder comes in. I would like to raise the funds for my endeavour through offering benefits that you will not have access to in the future. It is an opportunity to invest in me as an artist, and to help me create my business from the ground up, whilst gaining a tangible reward for your pledge. Not only will you enjoy your reward, but there is the real and exciting possibility that my art will increase in value as I become established as a popular contempory artist. My costs: Professional giclee printing, frames, mount boards, backing boards, cello bags, pocket mirrors, magnets, tea towels, gazebo and gazebo walls (for outdoor markets), table, and entry fees to my first two fairs. The rewards: I want to thank you for contributing to my future as an artist. The exclusive rewards for funding my project are as follows: For a pledge of £10 - My thanks and a signed and numbered limited edition (100 only of any one artwork) giclee print of one of my artworks, unframed. They are 300mm x 300mm. This is the introductory price for my prints, and will not remain at this price indefinitely. Postage and packaging in the UK included. If you live outside of the UK, I can post to you for a small extra cost, payable by PayPal. For a pledge of £20 - My thanks and three (3) signed and numbered limited edition (100 only of any one artwork) prints of my artworks, unframed. They are 300mm x 300mm. There are only fifteen of these 'three for two offers' available, and represent amazing value. Postage and packaging for the UK included. If you live outside of the UK, I can post to you for a small extra cost, payable via PayPal. For a pledge of £30 - My thanks and signed print numbered '1' from one of my limited edition giclee print runs, unframed. They are 300mm x 300mm. Postage and packaging for the UK included. There are only five of these pledge offers available. If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please pledge now. If you live outside of the UK, I can post to you at a small extra cost, payable by PayPal. For a pledge of £100 - My thanks and an original 300mm x 300mm artwork. Acrylic on board, varnished, unframed. Postage and packaging for the UK included. There are only four of these very special offers available. I cannot begin to tell you the kind of value this offer represents! The artworks take me many, many hours to complete, and the processes involved in finishing the artworks are time and labour intensive. This offer does not even represent the wholesale cost of creating the artworks, and for that reason if you think you are ever going to want one, for yourself or as a gift, now is the time to act. You may either choose from a finished unsold artwork, or I will create one for you in the style you prefer (eg spotted cats, starry dogs, cats with hats, etc). If you live outside the UK, I can post the artwork to you for a small extra cost, payable via PayPal. For a pledge of £200 - My thanks and an original 800mm x 600mm artwork. Acrylic on board, varnished, unframed. Postage and packaging for the UK included. There is only two of these very special offers available. Like the £100 offer, the value this represents to you is simply amazing! You may either choose from a finished unsold artwork, or I will create one for you in the style you prefer (eg spotted cats, starry dogs, cats with hats, etc). As much as it pains me, this one is an exclusive UK only deal. I simply can't get this one to you if you live outside of the UK, due to the size of the work. I really want to thank you for the time you have taken to read my pitch. I hope that you find one of the rewards irresistible, either for yourself or as a gift for someone who you know would love my art. My pitch is only running for 30 days, so please act quickly if you want to pledge for a reward. If you are unable to pledge at this time, but still really want to help me, just sharing this pitch with your friends, colleagues, and family will go such a long way to helping me realise my £500 goal. Please share the link to this pitch in any way possible, via email, Facebook, Twitter, Morse Code; whatever it takes! You can see completed artworks in my new series at Badgers! Badgers! or on my Facebook page, 'Diana Parkhouse, Artist' (while you're there, be sure to like my page to recieve regular updates about this pitch, new artworks, and which fairs you will find me at). The really important bit - By helping me start my small business, you will also be helping my two favourite charities, as I in turn am pledging 5% of my profits, ongoing. Millwood Cat Rescue is a small private cat rescue centre, providing a safe haven for abandoned and feral cats in the Nottinghamshire area. It receives no government funding, and relies solely on donations and volunteers. I have volunteered at Millwood for four years now, and my youngest cat, Man Kitten, was a rescue kitten from Millwood. My second charity is Nowzad. The Nowzad Dogs charity has been formed to do something positive for the cats, dogs and other animals of Afghanistan and Iraq that have no hope and nobody to care for them. Nowzad especially helps soft-hearted service men and women finance the transport costs of sending to their home country the four-legged friends they make whilst on tour with the forces. How to pledge - Simply enter the amount of money you wish to contribute in the box on the right that says Enter Amount and click on the Fund now button. You will need to register and become a member of Crowdfunder before you can complete your contribution. If you have credit in your Crowdfunder account then that amount will be deducted from your balance and that project will be added to your portfolio. If you don t have enough credit on your account then you will be prompted to add some more via your credit card or Paypal. All the very best, Diana x
