Provide dance classes for people with dementia and an access bus to help improve coordination, mobility, engaging the brain and having fun.

by rheannondavies in Middlesbrough

After gaining experience teaching dance to people with dementia and seeing how much of an impact I had on peoples lives, I am wanting to set up free regular dance workshops in and around Cleveland to make dance more accessible for those suffering with the disease.

There are currently no dance lessons running for people with dementia therefore, I will be using a selcetion of sensory props to deliver creative dance classes in a welcoming, safe environment. I will be using my experience in lesson planning to ensure I meet the needs of all participants, offering fun, relaxed and social sessions.

Not only will these workshops help joint mobility, coordiantion and keeping the brain engaged, but will also give the participants chance to experience something new and the carers/family members a well deserved break.

Along with having my own center where the workshops will take place, I am looking to fund a regular bus so the participants can safely access the services I am offering.
