Dagenham and Rainham Labour Party has historically had finance issues, but we have always been fortunate enough to scrape through by the skin of our teeth when an election came a-calling.

It was inevitable that our luck wouldn’t last forever, and we now find ourselves seven months from local elections without the funds to run an effective campaign in a single ward; let alone nine.

It isn’t through lack of trying on our part, but fundraising events in the constituency are a monumental effort for the same few who organise everything - and the yield is a couple of hundred quid.

Dagenham and Rainham is one of the most deprived areas in London and as such it is a big ask for many of our members to contribute financially. So we are reluctant to do so.

UKIP has all but crumbled, but let’s not forget the far-right held seats here not so long ago, and in 2014 many of the wards were only won by a mere 100 votes. People take it for granted that we are safe, but I can assure you that a colossal amount of work goes into maintaining what is in some wards a precarious position.

So here we are. Cap in hand.

We are calling on people/CLPs/unions who can, to donate anything up to £49 into our fighting fund.

*IMPORTANT INFO* - Anything £50 upwards needs to be declared so we cannot accept it without full details of the payee. If you would like to, and are in a position to donate more please send a cheque to:

Dagenham and Rainham Labour Party, 598 Rainham Road South, Dagenham, RM10 8YP

All funds will go towards our local election campaigns across Chadwell Heath, Whalebone, Heath, Eastbrook, Village, River, Rainham & Wennington, South Hornchurch, and Elm Park.

If you want some more information regarding our campaign, or our request please call Andrew Achilleos on 07985 539494.
