Me and my partner have recently acquired 4 acres in the South of Birmingham and would like to transform it into a mini farm and vegetable plot where local schools can visit and learn about agriculture, where our meat comes from, looking after animals, growing vegetables, lambing and hatching chickens. I grew up on a farm in the New Forest so this is an exciting venture that would bring us and our local communites a lot of joy. My wife and I have teaching backgrounds so this would come in handy in terms of the educational aspect of children's visits. We would like to give deprived children the chance to spend half a day looking after the animals too. The problem is that despite acquiring the land from a family member this venture comes with considerable cost and whilst we have the skills we need a hand with this to help us buy intial stock and fence ( which is horribly expensive!). We would love it if you were part of our vision. We like to start with poultry and sheep.
