Walkden Community are raising funds to have our Christmas lights installed again this year.

We are relying on the community to come together and donate to make this happen.

I've set the goal low because we only recieve the money if we achieve the goal, but in reality we need around £1500.

We can do this Walkden

In January of 2015 after much discussion about the lack of Christmas lights in our town we decided that we would raise the money and light up the streets. The year was very busy with events to help achieve this. We collected pennies for the penny mile, we had family nights, bag packs, summer fair, pantomome, films and much much more.

The whole community came out to look at the lights and celebrate our achievement. It was wonderful.

We raised enough money to buy some lights, have them installed, taken down and stored for the next year. We even had an official switch on by our very own Godwin who works at Tesco and is without a doubt the happiest man ever.  It was lovely.

This year, dispite lots of fundraising efforts, we haven't quite managed to find the money to put the lights up again.

Cherry pickers and safety inspections don't come cheap. The money we raise will pay for checks, instillation, taking the lights down and storage for another year. The full cost comes to £2400 but we have some money in the bank already saved.

We are looking for £1500 to fill this funding gap.

Every single pound will help towards our goal and we thank everybody for their generosity.

Thank you

The Walkden community team.
