A few months ago I was working at an arts fair where I was approached by a young woman representing the above organisation. I was asked if I would like to run a workshop at a rural Ukranian festival, run completely by volunteers with the intention of exposing children from secluded communities to the wonders of the artistic world. "Yes!" was my reply and the rest of the day was more or less uneventful.
But now the team has been put together and the ball is very much rolling.
We would like to build these kids a den, a den like no other!
Using reclaimed timber we would like to build a giant hollow fox, old cabinet doors concealing entrances into a private little wonderland. You can play on it, you can play in it, admittedly those are the literal limits but with a little child-like imagination the possibilities are endless!
On the build end we have experienced chippies, carpenters and metalworkers and on the decor we have painters/illustrators with mad skills. Mad skills I tell you.
And now why we need help.
I would like to iterate that this is a strictly non profit venture. The entire event is run by volunteers and we& 39;re included in that. We are donating our time to complete this project. From design, to sourcing our materials and finally to the build we are doing all we can to be sure this project is a success but unfortunately, as is often the case it requires financial input to help the project happen.
This is where you lot come in!
All investments/donations will be put towards our build expenses and very gratefully recieved. We want to be swimming in tubs of screws and using rolls of sandpaper as water wings to ensure the end product will be safe, secure and splinter free.
If you have any questions about the project please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org (this is a secondary contact address but I will do my best to reply promptly.)
(Rewards will be released after the completion of the build - June 10th)
