We Shouldn't Be Here: Chernobyl Documentary

We are raising money to make our Final Year documentary about extraordinary people who keep coming back to the abandoned town of Pripyat.

We did it!

On 5th Nov 2017 we successfully raised £808 with 23 supporters in 28 days

It’s been 31 years since one of the reactors at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant has exploded, turning the nearest town of Pripyat into a ghost town. Nobody lives in a radiation-infected Exclusion Zone… Yet thousands of people go there every year, with some of them becoming regular residents of the place that has been declared unsuitable for human beings. Somehow the tragedy and mystery of this place enchants its visitors into coming back!

We will talk to the people, who keep coming back to the Zone at their own risk; People, who quit their daily safe jobs to become tour guides in Pripyat; People, who go to the ghost town illegally, often risking not only their safety, but even their own lives... We want them to tell their extraordinary stories.

We are a crew of Final Year Television Production students, and we want to travel to Ukraine this November to make a documentary for those who want to find out the mysterious attraction of the most famous Exclusion Zone in the world… and for those who are yet to become interested in it.
