At Cerebral Palsy Midlands (now celebrating our 70th year of care) we primarily provide a day care service to people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, however this is not the only service we provide. Whilst at the centre our clients are taugh vital life skills to stay healthy and safe, these include things like cooking, personal hygiene, reading and writing skills, music, arts and crafts and much more. For some of these skills we have specialist groups that meet between 2 and 3 times a week and services for the local community.
The Big Push
Currently we are in the process of promoting The Great Big Push. This is a sponsored walk that takes place every year and takes place at Cannon Hill Park, Edgbaston, Birmingham. On the 7th of May most of our service users, along with other members of the community, our dedicated staff and volunteers will complete between a 2 and 10km walk around Cannon Hill Park, depending on what they can manage.
For this event to take place, transport and carers have to be organised and paid for. At least 100 wheelchair pushers have to be recruited so all participants can take part, refreshments are provided; these are either paid for through the charity or are given to us through donations and much more effort goes into making this event a success.
Last year we raised just over £3000 and hope to smash this on our next walk this year. As a charity, we rely heavily upon donations to allow use to continue providing our services to the community. Any donations are greatly recieved, whether they be big or small. Your support would be greatly appreciated to allow us to continue and possible expand the services we provide.
