Casualty Reduction Theatre Workshops

A Schools project Surrey, United Kingdom

Surrey-wide casualty reduction theatre education project targeted at secondary schools.

We're crowdfunding to secure funding for another year of important Road Safety Theatre in Education for Year 7 pupils in Surrey.

The aim of this project is to continue to reduce road traffic accidents involving secondary aged children in Surrey. We are hoping to raise funds to deliver Casualty Reduction Theatre Workshops across Surrey.

The project is designed to make year 7 students think about risks and consequences of not acting sensibly as pedestrians on the roads. It is important that the students watching the performance are able to reflect on their behaviour and that of others and to make the correct choices with confidence.

The performance is designed to appeal to year seven pupils. This year group, between primary and secondary school, is prone to risk taking. In 2013 45 children were killed or seriously injured in Surrey as a result of a road traffic collision.

Our aim is to hold another theatre production this Spring, but we need your help to achieve this.

We need to raise £8,000 to add the money that we have already been able to secure, without this money there is a possibility that we will not be able to run a theatre education project for year 7 at all.

The workshops have been delivered for 5 years and they been extremely popular with teachers and students. The performance is open to all schools engaging with approximately 8000 students.

We cannot do this without your support!

Head of year 7 George Abbot School Guildford  "A very professional, very confident young team that engaged fully with our students from start to finish. The performance also challenged students behaviour on roads and they could see how their behaviour on the roads mirrors that of your characters in the show ".
