After I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 I found there was very little time to just relax, take it all in and give myself‘me’ time. With all the appointments, liaising with work, telling the people who needed to be told…… there was little time to digest what was happening, research the practicalities or to just relax.
There were also a few friends who found the whole situation very awkward, they avoided me as they didnt know how to react or what to say.
So I set up Cancer Care Parcel, to enable children and adults with cancer to take some of the worry away and bring some calm back into their lives. Cancer Care Parcel is also an ideal gift, to let people with cancer know that you are thinking of them.
I set up Cancer Care Parcel to bring back a bit of calm into the lives of people suffering with cancer and its treatment”
I has gone through treatment and understand some needs of people with cancer, however we don’t rely on me to decide what goes in the parcels. We also consult those receiving our parcels for their feedback and suggestions, we also consult
- our advisory board, which consists of cancer patients and survivors.
- our partners who donate items to ensure that their products are suitable.
The final composition of each box is the decision of the Cancer Care Parcel team, chaired by me.
However, it is time for me to expand the company and to possibly stand down as CEO, so that it can grow
We need funds to support redesign our website, increase awareness nationwide and to find who will bring 'cancer care parcel' forward so that we can support more people
By donating to Cancer Care parcel you are helping us reach and care for more people in the UK with cancer.
