You know how it is. Your husband decides to walk to the North Pole, which takes a month, and will leave you with 3 kids. Then he ropes you in as Polar PA. Before you know it, you're organising a Polar Bear Plunge on New Year's Day 2016. That's me. The Polar Bear Plunge involves hardy individuals jumping into an outdoor pool on an English January day. Brr! Cheered on by spectators, and then warmed up with hot chocolate and medals.
I have had a lot of help from a certain Chrissie Saunders, and some encouragement from Birgir Scheving. Which is great. But both refused to do the plunge themselves. I was surprised, what with both of them coming from countries known for snow and ice aplenty.
First Birgir said in fact he WOULD it if I raised £100 for the charities. And then Chrissie announced she would do it if I raised £1000. So, here we are.
All funds raised will go directly to charities – split between Rennie Grove Hospice Care, Cancer Research UK, Earthworks St Albans and the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust.
So, get them both away from the bar and into the icy water.
I will of course film the momentous occasion. Thank you!
