Many charitable organisations operating in Calais saw a surge in donations following the tragic images of Aylan Kurdi, a Syrian child who drowned off the coast of Turkey. As a result charities are struggling to cope with the quantity of donations, with these vital supplies failing to reach those in need. Instead of donating money we want to help on the ground. We are able to offer our time to sort donations and support those living in ‘The Jungle’. So please help us get to Calais to offer valuable support for the humanitarian crisis!
We aim to raise £1,500 to cover our travel and accommodation costs for three days. There is a great need to provide transport for volunteers and sorting of donations from the warehouse which is located away from the campsite. Our work will mainly involve sorting and processing supplies stored in the CalAid warehouse.
We are a group of people who work at the same company and are motivated to help where we can. We really hope you can help us achieve our target so we can continue to support and distribute aid. The more we are able to raise the more time we are able to give, and we hope that we will be able to return to Calais to provide continuity to the work established from this trip.
