Ddwy flynedd yn ôl, cododd pentref Penygroes  (gyda 1,700 o bobl), dros £53,000 drwy gyfraniadau cymunedol i brynu Siop Griffiths. Mae’r adeilad yn un hanesyddol, eiconic yng nghanol ein pentref, ac ers hynny, dan ni wedi sefydlu Cymdeithas Budd Cymunedol i ddatblygu Siop Griffiths er budd y gymuned.

Mae Siop Griffiths yn mynd ymlaen i ddechrau cam 1 o’n prosiect – addasu’r adeilad i agor caffi. Wedyn dan ni’n ceisio am arian i ddatblygu Cam 2 a 3, llety a chanolfan ddigidol i bobl ifanc.

Mae gennym grant o £123,000 o Gronfa Datblygu Cymunedau Gwledig tuag at y gwaith adeiladu, ond mae rhaid i ni godi £32,000 yn y mis nesaf i brynu’r offer, a sicrhau fod y prosiect yn gallu mynd ymlaen. Dan ni eisiau codi hanner gyda’r apêl yma, a dan ni’n siarad â phobl eraill i godi gweddill yr arian. Ond bydd pob punt dros £16,000 yn ein helpu i wella safon y caffi.

Help us transform the old shop into a cafe

Two years ago Penygroes village (pop. 1,700) raised over £53,000 in community contributions to buy Siop Griffiths. It is a historical, iconic building in the middle of the village, and since then we have established a Community Benefit Society to develop Siop Griffiths for the benefit of the community.

Siop Griffiths is procedding with the first phase of our project – adapting the building to opern  a cafe. Afterwards we will apply for grants to develop Phase 2 and 3, accommodation and a digital centre for young people.

We have already obtained a grant of £123,000 from the Rural Communities Developmet Fund for the building work, but we need to raise £32,000 in the next month to buy the equipment, and to ensure the project can go ahead. We want to raise half the sum with this appeal, and we are talking with others about finding the rest of the money. But every pound over £16,000 will improve the standard of the cafe.
