Caesura (The short fiction project)

Caesura: a monthly writing competition, and online writer's portal. Cash prizes each month, for short stories, flash fiction and poetry.

Once upon a time...

These days, we are all busy, and yet everyone needs a creative outlet, or a few minutes of space to gather our thoughts.

Caesura is the first online venture for writers and readers who are short on time, but big on creativity. The project will run a monthly competition open to anyone, to submit either poetry, flash fiction of a short story based around a single word 'prompt'. Every month, we publish a single word, as a theme for each submission.

The site will support busy writers, workers and parents, for example, who need that spark of creativity and a structure to get them writing, but haven't found time in a busy schedule to create. By limiting flash fiction to 250 words, short stories to 2,000 words, and poetry to 40 lines, entrants will be able to create amazing literature, without spending huge amounts of time producing it.

In addition, readers snatching a few minutes each day can pop in to the site and read submissions, safe in the knowledge that they aren't committing to a novel.

The competition will run monthly, have a minimum first prize of £50, and entries will be judged by published authors and poets, with feedback given.

Annually, we will compile and produce an anthology, so that contrbutors can see their own work in publication.

....And they all lived happily ever after.
