New stretch target
If we are overfunded we will use the extra money to pay for another teaching assistant to attend the trip with us.
At Jubilee we pride ourselves on giving children all-round learning opportunities outside their local area. We hope to raise enough money to cover the cost of a coach to take 2 Year 2 classes of 60 children in total on, for many, their first outing away of London. Many of these children have not experienced the seaside and had the chance to dip their toes in the sea!
Why do we need crowdfunding?
Our school is located in a vibrant and developing area, but a large percentage of our children come from low income homes. Our parents and carers are extremely supportive but are not always able to make financial contributions to trips and getting our children out and about. We are a local authority 2-form entry school with a limited budget that is stretched across both during and afterschool provisions for children in need. We rely heavily on generous donations from parent's and carers to make trips possible. We are passionate about fundraising and giving Jubilee children the best possible opportunities and a the headstart that they deserve!
Our hope is to get our children out of Brixton to support and extend their learning through incredible experiences. We hope these outdoor experiences will inspire our children to aim high and realise there are amazing opportunities to be had outside their front door! It is amazing initiatives like crowdfunding that allow school's like ours to support our children's all-round development.
About the project
This term in Year 2 we have been learning all about island life, including the stories Katie Morag and Gregory School. The children have developed their skills through roleplay, art and imaginative story writing. In geography and history we have made comparisons between city life and seaside towns, which has sparked enthusiasm in the children about visiting different localities from their own!
Whilst the children have enjoyed exploring seaside towns through stories, photographs and digital media we feel that their best learning happens through hands-on, sensory experiences.
