We are bringing 4 dancers to the Festival from Mexico, France, Germany and Hungary. We will present neo-classical ballet with your support What will we do?
About the project
"Transitions of (I)dentity" is a 50 minutes dance performance, based on classical ballet technique but enhanced with the freedom, strength and twists of contepmporary dance. I do use pointes shoes in my ballets however, which adds the extra lenght, height and challenge to each movement. The costumes for this piece are not only to dress the dancers, but to add an extra layer to the depth of movement, too, they enhance, yet live their own lives at times.
In Transitions, four dancers start off as "the society" until one drops out and goes against the flow. Supported by the spirit of courage, this individual searches for a way to become herself, unchanged by others, yet functional in the group. As this development goes on, society, represented by now two dancers, does get influenced by the spirit of courage at times but keeps flowing back into known patterns and finally the two find themselves within the rules.
Transitions is about each person's own story of finding one's way.The whole piece is partnered by different pieces of Vivaldi, allegros and adagios, music made visible.
As we are flying in 4 dancers from around the globe we have huge bills coming our way. We have no guarantee that the theater will sell out and due to that we depend on your help. Right now, the dancers are working incredibly hard and are totally underpaid. This means that this flash fundraising is to gather funds mainly to pay the dancers what they deserve.
So far we have banked 10.000 Euros private money in order to make this happen. There is costumes, accomodation and flights but also rent for the theater and some allowance for our dancers. We are stretched to the absolute limit and if there is one thing i wish more than anything else is to be able to give this fantastic team what they deserve. They do it out of love but you can´t eat that. Every little helps to value their work.
