Bridport Children's Festival

Bridport Children's Festival

A one day festival of art, music and movement for 2 - 7 year olds, taking place on Thursday 27th July on the Millennium Green Bridport.

We did it!

On 27th Jul 2017 we successfully raised £1,600 of £1,500 target with 18 supporters in 10 days

Bridport Children's Festival presents the very best art, music and movement workshops for children aged 2 - 7 led by professional practitioners from the local area.

Through movement, music and art, children are given tools to learn the freedom of expression and grow in confidence. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop their individual skills because communication leads to a better future.

But...

Many young children never get the chance to explore their artistic side or find their talent.

SO WHAT`ARE WE DOING ABOUT IT?

The Bridport Children's Festival aims to be affordable and inclusive by offering a set price all day ticket to include ALL workshops on the day, not a seperate price for each workshop, which is the traditional format for children's art events.

With a huge variety of sessions to choose from, the Bridport Children's Festival offers not only a fantastic day of creativity but a great way to discover and try groups that are regularly held in  Bridport - many of which offer subsidised places.

As well as benefiting the local community as a platform for art and education for children, the festival is designed to equally support and promote artists currently running groups in the local area. The festival aims to be of equal benefit to both child and teacher.

At the festival, children will have the opportunity to join workshops in story telling, yoga, healthy food making, ukulele playing, percussion and drumming, music making, sports, puppet making,  printmaking, forest school, dance and movement, expressive painting, farming and reading.

WHY DO WE NEED HELP?

Although all workshop leaders and festival organisers are giving their time entirely for free in support of art and education for local children, there are expenses that cannot be avoided and need to be covered.

HOW WILL WE SPEND THE MONEY RAISED?

We need to pay for the hire of the venue, first aid professionals from St. John's Ambulance to be present, workshop material costs such as paints, papers and fabrics, hire of bell tents, Public Liability Insurance, printing of posters, programmes and flyers (including flyers for school and nursery bookbags), newspaper adverts and hire of equipment such as tables and chairs.

WHAT WILL WE DO WITH ANY PROFIT FROM THE FESTIVAL?

This year, any profit made will be donated to Bradpole Preschool, an outstanding preschool that is currently experiencing financial stress and pressure. The funds raised will help to support the preschool to purchase materials needed for the artistic development of the children attending.
