Celebrating Christmas is important, especially for our residents...
The Bridge is a Birmingham-based project that helps men and women beat drug or alcohol addiction. We give people a comfy, stable home and loads of support through our full-time addiction recovery programme.
For many of the men and women who arrive at The Bridge, Christmas is a time of mixed emotions. Maybe it's because of the memory of old family occasions getting drunk, or high; or maybe it's the memory of being alone. Maybe it's not being able to remember anything at all...
It's so important that these guys feel loved and cared for this Christmas; that they experience a warm, accepting environment and know that they're truly valued and accepted. We want to do this in three significant ways:
1. By giving our residents a proper Christmas dinner, with all the trimmings. Staff and residents sitting down to eat together on Christmas day
2. By giving each resident an individual, thought-through present that lets them know they're known and valued as an individual
3. By celebrating New Years Eve with our residents. Providing a take-away meal and hanging out together at a time where many people across the country will be drinking
We’re hoping to raise £600 to do all this and make Christmas a truly memorable occasion. Here's how we'll spend any Christmas funding raised:
If we raise any money over and above our Christmas target, we'll make sure it goes towards providing memorable occasions for our residents, such as birthday celebrations, throughout the coming year.
Thanks for remembering our guys this Christmas, and a huge Merry Christmas from everyone here at the project!
