We are organising THE PARTY OF THE SUMMER. A huge, amazing event on Friday the 25th September 2015 for the people of Plymouth - everybody is welcome!
The summer party venue is a stunning marquee on Plymouth Hoe, boasting superb views of The Sound. Tickets are for over 18's only and can be purchased for just £15, with all profit going to Brain Tumour Research. Each ticket will include canapés, glass of bubbly on arrival and an evening of entertainment.
Grab your £15 ticket from the list of rewards on the right and enjoy bands such as Bloxed Beats, Compari and Tracy Cheetham. There’ll be magicians, moving statues, stilt walkers, cocktail making demonstrations - and that's just to name a few. A raffle will be held on the evening with many more exciting prizes to be won. Santander will also match the funds raised up to £3,500!
So... who's behind this fantastic event?
We are a small group of staff members who work for Santander, which encourages all its colleagues to support local communities and charities. We have decided, as a team, to work closely with Plymouth University and to support Brain Tumour Research. We have previously been invited to participate in a tour of the research laboratories, which has really opened our eyes to this worthwhile cause. We have huge respect for the essential research carried out by the partnership between Plymouth University and Brain Tumour Research.
Brain Tumour Research
More children than adults under 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer. Brain Tumours kill over twice as many women as cervical cancer, and more men under the age of 45 than prostate or any other cancer. Brain cancer incidence is actually rising: 23% higher for men and 25% higher for women in 2012 than in 1970. 55% of patients die within a year of diagnosis, compared with 4% for breast cancer and 6% for prostate cancer. Brain tumours are responsible for 20 years of life lost. The South West has the highest rate of brain tumours diagnosed per million in England. There are 120+ types of brain tumour.
We know all this, yet brain tumour research is woefully underfunded, receiving just 1% of national spending on cancer research. This shortage of funding means a critical lack of researchers to investigate the condition and more effective treatments. At this rate, it could take another 100 years to find a cure. We need your help.
This is where you come in!
We need your help because a small group of people isn’t enough! We need you to be there to help Fund the Fight for Brain Tumour Research, as well as have a great night out. Click on the £15 ticket reward on the right side of the page and join us on 25th September 2015!
Your pledges will make sure this party happens, raising much needed funds for Brain Tumour Research!
We hope this will pull together the community, have fun and enjoy the party. We also need you to SPREAD THE WORD.... tell everyone about this party - tell your neighbours, your colleagues and your families.
See you there!
