Freedom Wizard provide a service for wheelchair users to enable access to rugged Britain. The Mountain Chair is an amazing machine which has successfully reached the summits of Ben Nevis, Snowdon and The Wrekin. They can cope with terrain impassable in a day chair or scooters.
Having set a plan to grow the charity by having our first mountain chair by summer 2017 and working relentlessly in raising to fund a bus to transport the chairs. Well...We're already there. Bev Woolrich has donated her own chair on loan, we have purchased our own Mountain Trike and we have a minibus!!! WOW!!!
The bus is 13 years old and was donated to us by the Bendrigg Trust, a charity who provide accessible active residential courses in the Lakes. Mechanically, she works a dream and comes accessible equipped but cosmetically, she's a tad on the unkempt side!
£2,000 will cover for repair of her bodywork, a respray and to have the bus logo'd up to get our name out there. She will look like new and with 100,000 still to go in her Mercedes-Benz engine...There's definitely life left in her.
As a charity we are attending shows and working with businesses to help reach this target.
