With your help, we want to turn our gallery lighting low energy, so everyone can enjoy great art without the carbon.

Bluecoat is Liverpool’s centre for the contemporary arts welcoming 650,000 visitors a year. Our wonderful Grade 1 listed building is the oldest in Liverpool, and we’re home to artists and makers in our wonderful studios and shops.

Our galleries are the heart of Bluecoat, the places we show amazing works by both established artists and up and coming talent from all over the world, all of which are free for everyone – including our Blue Room learning disabled artists group and thousands of school children every year.

We’re open 363 days a year and, to help people see our amazing art, the lights have to be on for thousands of hours.

All the money we receive from the Marks and Spencer Energy Fund will help us install the latest low energy LED gallery lighting. That will save money, so we can keep this special place free for all, and reduce our carbon footprint, looking after the environment for future generations.
