VOOM 2017 October Winner: Gipsy Hill Brewery Community Tap Room

We kicked off our monthly VOOM £1k giveaway in July to support great ideas that are shared on the Crowdfunder Facebook page.

A collaboration with GoDaddy, aiming to support startup businesses, saw an offer of £10k up for grabs. Ten different business ideas received £1k each, making this month’s competition get off to an exciting start.

Following this fierce competition, the 10 finalists then went on to battle it out for an additional pledge of £1k from VOOM, which was received by the project that raised the most money from the crowd during the first 72 hours of their crowdfunding campaign.

We’re pleased to announce that Gipsy Hill Brewery Community Tap Room are the winners!

VOOM will continue to give away £1,000 each month until 2018 – so if you have a great idea, then be sure to enter into our next month’s competition to be in with the chance of winning.

Applications for our November £1k giveaway will begin on Monday 6th November, so be sure to stay tuned in via the Crowdfunder Facebook and Twitter to hear our big announcement and keep up to date with the latest news.

The Winners Story: Gipsy Hill Brewery Community Tap Room

Gipsy Hill Brewery focus on big flavour and moreish brews. Their mission is to offer no nonsense, full flavoured beer that is made with natural and quality ingredients. With an uncompromising approach to the best brewing process, they want to deliver beer with a simple and well balanced flavour.

Their Crowdfunder project is all about promoting social inclusion, by building an accessible space that actively promotes this. The Community Taproom will be open for anyone to access during opening hours to meet and socialise. They will also be organising, running and supporting social and educational events in this new, fully accessible space.

We caught up with Sam, project owner behind Gipsy Hill Brewery Community Tap Room, to find out what this additional win means for the hop-fuelled project…

The extra £1k from VOOM means a lot. We’re really trying to put in place the equipment and facilities that will ensure that we can host anyone and everyone down at the taproom. It’s expensive, and without the help of this campaign, we wouldn’t be able to pull it off. There are lots of local people who are going to benefit from it, and who will enjoy being out and about, socialising, and living life in a way that is, unfortunately, still too uncommon in this day and age.
Crowdfunding has given us the confidence to really push for our stretch target of £30k, which will ensure that we can be a comfortable, sustainable place that’s fully inclusive for all.

Who is next?

We will begin taking applications for our October VOOM £1k giveaway on Monday 6th November, so be sure to keep up to date with us on Facebook and Twitter to hear about what you need to do to be in with a chance of winning.
