Smith & Sinclair – the journey so far with support from

Smith & Sinclair, a company founded from a delicious partnership between self-confessed sweet tooth Melanie Goldsmith and acclaimed chef Emile Bernard. The result? Divine melt-in-the-mouth cocktail pastilles from Gin and Tonic (violet infused gin and a lemon sherbet coating) to a Mixed Berry Daiquiri (with summer berries, dark rum and a pink peppercorn infused coating), modern twists on classic cocktails in a delectable format.

Emile and Melanie wanted to create a product that would surprise and delight, and while hosting a series of dating nights, their alcoholic pastilles proved so popular they became the focal point. And so, Smith & Sinclair was officially launched with the ambition to share their creative cocktail confectionery with the world.

Excited to discover such an innovative and delicious take on the classic pastille, Natasha Ingle, Category Manager, commented: “Paving the way in innovation for the edible alcohol market; Smith & Sinclair spotted a gap, took a traditional product and turned it upside down – it’s this explosive combination of quality, innovation and market awareness that captured our attention.”

With the growing success of their Cocktail Pastilles, Smith and Sinclair turned to to raise awareness and funds, to create an immersive pop-up store to share their products with customers. To make this idea a reality, they required access to funding, so they joined the Crowdfunder community. The company successfully raised £23,252 from 96 backers in just 49 days which allowed them to create their fabulous pop-up store, creating an immersive experience for customers to taste their creative take on cocktails.

Now Crowdfunder and have teamed up to offer the heady mix of crowdfunding and a platform from which to grow their business, to some of the best new food and drink producers across the UK.  

UK innovators in food and drink can add a project to and raise the funds they need to get their ideas off the ground. The most unique and stand-out projects could then also be selected by to join its curated Partner base of 5,000 of the UK’s best creative small businesses.
