We’re excited to say that our brand communications manager, Jess, has been chosen to appear at the TEDxBristol 2015 held at Bristol’s Colston Hall on Wednesday 11th November, to speak about her passion for all things crowdfunding.
The now sold-out event is set to be one of the largest in the UK this year, with over 1,800 people descending on the city centre to hear talks ranging from same sex adoption to finding your ‘inner meerkat’. Well known faces such as Dr Dawn Harper from Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies and BBC Super Senses’ Patrick Aryee will be taking to the stage alongside lesser-known speakers like entrepreneur Tom Savage and fitness coach Kim Ingleby. BBC DIY SOS’s friendly builder, Mark Millar, is TEDxBristol’s compere for the day.
Jess said: “I’m so excited to be speaking about Crowdfunding at TEDxBristol – I’ve been inspired by thousands of our Crowdfunder community project owners and it’s a real honour to share their stories, and truly show what’s possible with the power of the crowd. Bristol itself has the ambition to raise over £1M for crowdfunding projects and already has such a reputation for innovation – it’s the perfect place to chat about the future of funding.
Curator Mel Rodrigues said: “For me Bristol is the city of ideas, so we wanted to created a TEDx event that packed a punch and showcased our both our best innovations and our quiet heroes, intrepid trailblazers and unapologetic agitators. We’ve unearthed this region’s ordinary people doing extraordinary things, to make our futures better than we dare dream, hence the theme “Great Expectations”.
