Following on from the launch of their crowdfunding campaign in partnership with Crowdfunder.co.uk, Devon FA are now able to further support football clubs across Devon with match funding for innovative projects thanks to sponsor Carl Throgmorton.
Clubs are being invited to reach out to their community to raise funds from the crowd for kit, facilities, training and workshops to be in with the opportunity of a match funding pledge of up to £500 to support their ideas from Devon FA.
Chris French from Devon FA said: “We’ve already helped to raise over £24,000 through crowdfunding for clubs since we launched our campaign and now we’d like to encourage more clubs and football organisations in Devon to take up the opportunity.
“We know there is a huge passion for local football in Devon and we are absolutely delighted to be able to further support our club with match funding as they look to become even more financially secure in times of budget cuts – ensuring that football stays exactly where it belongs, in the heart of the community and in the hands of the fans.”
Matt Matthew, Business Manager at Ridgeway School, who raised £10,250 from 79 backers added: “We crowdfunded as a part of the Devon Football campaign and it was brilliant to see how much support we had from our local community. Not only did it help us to raise funds, it helped us raise awareness of what we do in Plympton and the importance of keeping football alive and kicking”.
Closely linked with Crowdfund Plymouth, football projects in Devon in and near the city are also welcome to apply for pledges of funding support from Plymouth City Council.
Lisa Boorman, Principal at Ridgeway School, who received a pledge of £5,000 for their campaign from Plymouth City Council to build a 3G Pitch at Ridgeway School in Plympton, has now gone on to raise over £10,000 for their community from over 70 backers, said: “The match fund from Plymouth City Council on our crowdfunding project has not only given a much needed boost to our campaign but it’s shown that the city truly cares about the sport we play and the opportunities it brings to young players. We are astounded by the support we’ve received from over 70 backers on Crowdfunder and can’t wait to welcome everyone to the pitch.”
