Essex based Stan Blade, who’s music fuses urban styles, folk, blues and spoken word is crowdfunding raise funds for a two-week summer tour around some of the major UK music scenes to promote his material which has already attracted major label interest.
The musical journey across the UK will be documented – rewarding followers with live gig broadcasts and fresh content before Stan heads back to his native Southend-on-Sea to make a full studio album for release this Autumn.
Stan’s target is £2,500 and he is using Crowdfunder as an innovative platform to springboard himself further into the limelight by selling albums online as an independent artist to attract even more followers and label interest. As Stan says though “labels aren’t the be all and end all anymore” so who knows how far he can take his music outside of the traditional routes?
Stan and his manager decided Crowdfunder was the best choice of platforms because it was easy to use and much more flexible for choosing what to spend the pledges on, which made the whole project possible and simple to set up. Other platforms were either restrictive in this and other ways or just not specifically for music projects.
The project got off to a great start with over 25% of funding achieved in the first 48 hours! Stan’s team stated that the main reason for this is making sure they had a launch party with flyers explaining the rewards and chasing up followers who promised to pledge early on. Plus a consistent and varied online campaign via number of platforms also helped keep the project live and fresh in the minds of would-be pledgers.
In Stan’s words “I think you just have to believe in your music and the plans you’ve made, keep communicating with people about it online and have good quality content pre-prepared for people to listen to. A decent intro video always helps too, so make your case well…the rest should take care of itself!”
Stan’s also got a great set of rewards ranging from a signed copy of an early released Live EP, to supporting Stan at both the EP and album launch party’s and a full studio recording for acts hoping to capitalise on the buzz created around the campaign – inviting people to support from wherever they are in the county.
