Crowdfunding and StartUp Loans

Thanks to our exciting new partnership with Virgin StartUp, we’ve got an initial £750,000 of loan funding available for up to 100 businesses that successfully run a project on Crowdfunder (yes – it could be for you!), giving businesses and individuals the opportunity to become eligible for a Virgin StartUp loan through the process of crowdfunding.

Our partnership with Virgin StartUp is about more than funding, it’s about validation for your idea. Virgin StartUp believe that ideas that are successfully crowdfunded are likely to be viable businesses and therefore more suited for one of their start-up loans. Which is good news for anyone in need of help turning their idea into reality.

It’s also about advice, teaching entrepreneurial behaviour, ensuring each and every business that comes through our door is equipped with the skills and the knowledge they need to become a success story in their own right – and this is why each loan applicant will also gain 15 hours with a top-of-the-pops Virgin StartUp mentor, providing one-on-one support over 12 months.

Richard Branson at the Battleship BuildingVirgin Group Founder, Sir Richard Branson, commented on our partnership, “The great thing about being an entrepreneur today is the vast array of funding options available. The partnership between Crowdfunder and Virgin StartUp is a unique way for entrepreneurs to secure funding and receive the support and information they need to get their business ideas off the ground.”

MD, Phil Geraghty added: “Working with Virgin StartUp to champion funding for start-ups will create many opportunities for businesses. Our experience shows that demonstrating your project is getting support, validates the idea and can unlock even more funding. At Crowdfunder we strive to consistently offer additional opportunities to projects alongside crowdfunding to help turn more ideas into reality.”

Gemma Breese, founder of Okie Soap, a business which has recently successfully crowdfunded £2500 to expand her business commented: “I’ve really enjoyed the crowdfunding process, both the challenges & successes that come with it. It’s brilliant to see all the extra opportunities that are open to businesses after they’ve crowdfunded, which is something I didn’t even think about at the start of this process.

“I’ve started the process to apply for a Virgin StartUp Loan through Crowdfunder which would really boost my business and amplify the funds that I’ve already raised from my community of supporters. In addition to the finance I’m also able to get extra support for my business, such as help with my business plan.

“I’m impressed with how my Crowdfunder project is opening so many new doors for Okie Soapy, not only do I have a new customer base, but also ongoing opportunities to grow my business!”
