Help us elect the first ever Green voices to Canterbury City Council in May 2015.
In the Ward of Blean Forest in Canterbury, statistics have shown around 70% of the electorate are aged 15 - 29; coupled with polls by YouGov showing the youth vote joint first on 29% with Labour, we have a real chance to elect up to three Green councillors to a Conservative-majority Council, providing a well needed voice that can challenge the council's decisions.
We can only do this with your help as our funds are limited - two of us are students at the University of Kent - and we are seeking to be able to produce literature, posters, hold election days and much more to encourage the electorate of our Ward to turn out and vote on May 2015.
We are seeking a small amount of £500 in order to produce:
4000 newsletters in Mar/Apr: £150
4000 election leaflets in Apr: £150
1000 letters to postal voters: £100
Posters and garden boards: £70
Eve/poll & sorry missed you: £30
Total £500
In Natalie Sparkes and Dave Cocozza, we have two very passionate and promising candidates. Dave, alongside his studies, was recently appointed as the national spokesperson for Higher and Further Education for The Green Party - demonstrating his commitment to improving the education system and his passion for change, and is a very active local campaigner in the student movement. Natalie is a very active Young Green member in Canterbury and cares deeply about people and not profits; she also was very influential in setting up the Canterbury and UKC Young Green group.
With your help we can ensure that everyone in our Ward is aware of the election and the benefits of voting Green, and elect up to three fantastic councillors who will make a difference in Canterbury.
We wish to raise money to try and level the playing field between traditional parties who are generously funded by wealthy individuals and corporations, and the Green Party, who is more dependent on small individual donations.
We would love to hear from you too if you would like to help with the campaign, please contact our local party: [email protected]
