A community hub for Blackfen

A community hub for Blackfen

A refurbished, creative library space in Blacken, including the set up of a new community cafe.

We did it!

On 21st Apr 2016 we successfully raised £70 with 2 supporters in 28 days

In April 2016 Blackfen Library will transition from being a council run library to being managed by New Generation Church. We are really excited to be able to help keep the library open as it's such an important part of the local Blackfen community. We believe it's important to keep the library as a vibrant community hub for the area with excellent book stock, a technology area, free wifi, printing facilities and activities for all ages.

We would like to refurbish some of the facilities, including the creation of a new cafe in the library space. Although we receive some funding through Bexley Council for the ongoing running costs of the Library, we are fundraising for some of the costs of refurbishment and the creation of the new cafe. The cafe will serve quality and affordable fair trade drinks, cakes and light snacks, it will provide a community meeting space and will attract new visitors to the buzzing library. Profits from the cafe will help keep Blackfen Community Library a sustainable project and ensure it stays open for the use of the local community.

We believe that Blackfen Community Library will continue to be a great resource to the local community and want to keep it dynamic, creative, looking excellent and a place where people want to be! Your donations will help make that possible. Thank you!
