Play your part in the future of opera

Birmingham Opera Company was born of a passion and belief that opera can speak directly to all kinds of people. Its unique way of working has won international awards, with thousands of volunteers as well as taking opera to factories, hospitals, parks, supermarkets and care homes. Sometimes it is a call to action, other times it’s a voice to heal!  Anyone can volunteer (with no audition) to be in a Birmingham Opera Company production and receive free training from opera professionals in singing, dancing and acting to play their part of a phenomenal success story.

Your donations bring more voices and audiences to opera

With your support we will offer Volunteer Performers up to 60 hours of training with opera professionals engaging over 1,000 local participants and audiences for two city centre public performances in April. Your donations support over 10 performances in hospitals and care facilities this year.

“Imagine what Gareth Malone does with amateurs with The Choir on TV and multiply that by a hundred” – Brian Appleyard in   the Sunday Times 2014

“I should have done something like this ages ago. It’s renewed my energy for life” Volunteer Performer
