Hello! My name is Corrie, originally from Jersey, C.I. I moved to Hastings after leaving the London rat race to set up this small 'light impact living' project to rent out for self catering breaks.
Bindlesticks is a caravan retreat in Hastings set in a beautiful historical woodland village called Coghurst Hall Park, just 10 minutes North of Hastings town centre. With 100 acres of woodlands and a fishing lake on the door step, the setting here has a tranquil and energising atmosphere - perfect for those who need to escape the city life to reconnect with nature.
What I aim to do is redesign the outdoor space into a self sustainable garden that will grow an abundance of fruit and veg throughout the seasons, so that the visitor can pick and eat their dinner straight from the garden all for free during their stay. Taking the Holistic approach to gardening, this aims to be an oasis of calm and a place to unwind.
As the garden is on a deep slope, it really needs to be levelled out with a veranda to maximise as much space as possible. I have levelled out half of it myself so far, but the rest will need to be built professionally and that is what I am funding for - to get the garden completed and up and running by April. So if you are looking for a peaceful staycation in stunning surroundings; by pledging you will be receiving a very low cost holiday for 6 people.
I will also build a website for this project which will focus on Low Impact/self sustainable living.
What can I expect from a break at Bindlesticks?
A break here at Coghurst Hall Park will be a blissful and energising experience..think BBQ's, story telling around a firepit, foraging in the woods and fishing at the lakeside. For nature lovers, you will enjoy the vast amount of countryside for cycling and rambling in. The beach is a 10 minute drive from the park and the old town is full of lovely old antique shops and al fresco style cafes.
The caravan itself sleeps 6 people - 1 large double, 1 twin and a double pull out bed in the lounge. The kitchen will be fully stocked with cereals and other breakfast treats. You will be able to help yourself to the fresh produce in the garden and make use of the hammock, bbq etc.

Apart from the fact that this caravan is set in bloomin lovely surroundings, there is also lots of other activities to get your teeth stuck into in Hastings...A town rich in heritage and culture, Hastings really does have a great deal to offer.
