New stretch target
At a recent student council meeting, our students came up with a list as long as your arm of improvements that could be made to Becky High. These ranged from deep cleaning the toilets to providing fans in classrooms.
There were about 30 targets identified by student council reps and any overfunding would be applied to those targets in order of urgency!
Beaconsfield High School is a fantastic school with wonderful students. Our amazing students are, however, a bit cramped in the cafeteria at break and lunchtimes.
We would love to build a lean-to canopy on our cafeteria so that students can sit, eat and, maybe even, study under cover outside (with heating when it gets chilly!).
On 16 July 2014 we held a Student FUNdraising Day where a staggering £11,139.80 was raised (half of that being match funding from goHenry) towards the cost of the canopy.
The canopy will cost £16,400. Friends of Beaconsfield High School have generously agreed to give the remaining £5,260.20 so that the canopy can be built. Thank-you! Our recent big student fundraising initiative is already a huge success story. Soon students will see a tangible benefit to them, which is a direct result of their fund-raising efforts.
Getting the canopy through fund-raising and friends' support is brilliant but winter is approaching and it will get chilly out there. We need an extra £2,000 to provide a safe and economical heating system in the canopy.
We want to ask Becky High families, friends and supporters to help us raise £2000 to give our students a great outdoor space (which can be warm enough to be in even in the Winter)!
