The Birmingham Community Sunday Football League (BCSFL) is a league in its infancy set up only last year, we have 10 teams all from various parts of the city including Sutton but also more under privileged areas such as Tyseley, Bordesley, Stetchford, Erdington, King Standing, Alum Rock and probably the most high profile area in the media at the moment Sparkhill. Our league is open entry and contains players from all ethnicities and backgrounds as is evident every Sunday as all teams line up at Saltley Leisure Centre, which is where all our games take place. The league has been set up to provide young adults an opportunity to compete in unbiased competitive football, with the hope that this keeps them away from anti social and juvenile behaviour. Also, with the recent spate of home grown terrorism, we feel the league especially with a cup final at the Hawthornes could potentially help fight the lure of young adults committing such atrocities.
Our plans are to play our inaugural BCSFL Cup final at The Hawthorns. We are working night and day to try to raise funds to cover all costs related to the final.
Our league fees are one of the lowest around and just about cover the pitch costs for games during the season because of the under privileged areas our teams mainly come from, so additional costs for hosting the finals is hard but we need it to be able to provide teams and players with the incentive of playing at a professional stadium.
