We have four brilliant candidates who want to stand for Parliament in the General Election; Tony Rablen (Barking), Kate Simpson (Dagenham & Rainham), Melanie Collins (Hornchurch & Upminster) and Lorna Tooley (Romford), so everyone in our four East London constituencies will be able to vote Green in the General Election on 7 May 2015. That said, we need to raise at least £1000 to make sure an election leaflet is delivered to every household in our constituencies.
We experienced a massive surge in support in 2014, but we don't have big corporate funding like other parties. Fairness and equality don't seem to exist within our democratic system at present. Just look at the 'media blackout' that occurred during the European and local elections in May 2014. UKIP was given "fair coverage" by the media even though it had no MPs at the time. Conversely, the Green Party has members elected to all levels of government and has massively increased its membership to overtake the Lib Dems and remain well ahead of UKIP, yet we were invited to the Leadership Debates in January 2015, only after mobilising substantial public pressure.
The Greens have now overtaken the Lib Dems in opinion polls so we have even more reason to expect fair media coverage. Standing a candidate in every constituency will help to achieve this and with your support we can get our voices heard. Please help us get the Green message on to the doormats and kitchen tables of all the voters in our four constituencies.
Thanks for taking the time to look at our project and also for your support. Every little helps. Your contribution is very much appreciated!
