Help us to "Rise Above" and "Stay Strong!"

Basketball is now a major sport in Deeside. Banchory Basketball Club has players from Braemar to Durris at Primary and Academy School level up to the Scottish Cup winning Stags men’s team. We compete at National, Local and School level and are proud to play an active part in the Deeside community.

So we invite you to become part of our family by making a donation to help us maintain and improve the role of basketball in the community. Our rapid growth in our Junior teams means that we are short of equipment and also broken equipment needs to be replaced.

The club was started in 1993 by Mike Reilly and Bod McLean and has been very successful in the leagues and championships of Grampian and Scotland. Some players have represented Scotland at National Level and some have won scholarships to the USA.

The Banchory Stags is the excellent men’s team to which all players aspire - Head Coach and Captain is Scott Williams.

Banchory Bulls is our strong team for Under-18s boys from both Banchory and Aboyne Academies, coached by Mike Reilly, Banchory and Dave Rendall, Aboyne. Both coaches also work with the respective school teams, teams which have reached the finals of Scottish Schools Competitions.

Banchory Ravens are our fantastic Under 18s Girls team who have also reached the Scottish Schools finals. Founded and coached by Mike Reilly, the Ravens also compete as the Banchory School team, and last year the Ravens entered the Grampian Ladies League and performed well playing against much older and established teams.

We have 15 men’s team players and over 50 under-18s as members, before counting the affiliated primary school members! Our aim is to grow the club. We currently offer a total of 12 hours training to all our teams, and wish to do more. Therefore we need some new equipment. We have identified that our greatest needs are for basketballs - our aim is to have a ball for every player.  A new metal full-size security cabinet because the existing cabinet is irrepairably damaged . This cabinet contains our electronic scoreboards and time clocks, first aid kits, scoring desk accessories, mains extensions, as well as our records. Finally, we need training tops for all our teams.

So we invite you to become part of our family by making a donation to help us maintain and improve the role of basketball in the community. We will of course be extremely grateful for all contributions however small. Every penny will be used to expand and strengthen all of our teams at every level.

Help us to "Rise Above" and "Stay Strong!"

Thank you, Nathan Edwardson, Chairman; and Ray Thomson, Club Secretary.
