WHERE WE ARE COMING FROM & WHERE WE ARE GOING TO...

The 'Next Big Stop' in the UK, by the sea...

I am the lead-artist of Uncooked Culture's ongoing initiative called 'Circus Terminal Worldwide' and 'Circus in Terminal 15' which was formed in the UK. I am the ‘Bags Lady’ of Uncooked Culture (a global artists’ network gathering electronically with physical barrier-braking missions among self-taught/hidden/outsider, neo-outsider and contemporary (schooled) artists). I have been taking nearly 400 artworks from our participating artists all over the globe to 8 countries for the past 3 years, SPAIN, FRANCE, THAILAND, AMERICA, HOLLAND, NEW ZEALAND FRINGE FESTIVAL’14, SLOVENIA and SURINAME in South America.. The project has now returned to its home base in the UK the Worldwide journey. I will be taking this from London throughout the UK with a traveling art adventure in a Pop-up gallery style in various forms, indoor, outdoor and in bigger wheels than the Bag Lady's suitcase!

The funds I need are for the expenses of the project with artworks to be traveling from London to The Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage in North Yorkshire - UK (12-13 September 2015) of 5 days journey. The fund raised here will be going toward EXHIBITION-VAN HIRE, PETROL & VOLUNTEERING ARTISTS' ACCOMMODATION. Our registration application has been approved by The Festival Committee and the exhibitions will be held in 2 different venues right in the center of the festival, Captain Cook Inn and The Cleveland Corner. Other than myself who will be curating the 2 exhibitions in both venues, there will also be 3 participating artists traveling along to assist on the entire process of preparation and taking-down from 10 - 15 September 2015.

HOW THIS FUND CAN HELP THE PROJECT IF IT REACHES THE TARGET

The fund raised here will be spending on these following initial expenses and it will help "MAKING IT HAPPEN":

£570: 1 Self-drive transporting Van Hire for 6 days (10-15 September 2015) to be used for transportation of artworks, installation materials, tools, equipment and artists. It will also be used as an exhibition unit. The cost includes Personal accident protection for driver & passengers and Navigation System.

£200: Petrol for a return journey, London-Staithes, at minimum of 275 miles.

£350: Accommodation for 2 volunteering artists, to assist on preparation, co-curating, setting up, invigilating, providing information to visitors and taking down the exhibitions at 2 venues in the festival, for 5 nights (1 room at £70/night x 5 nights).

TOTAL of priority spending: £1,120

Ideal Exhibition-Van for Uncooked Pop-up & 'Circus in Terminal 15' exhibitions in Staithes Festival

The ideal plan is to hire a particularly designed vehicle for exhibition to be used for both artworks transportation and exhibition space. The Exhibition-Van will be parked at the rear of Captain Cook Inn with artworks displayed inside. The Exhibition-Van will be big enough for visitors to walk around viewing the exhibition inside the van. The other part of artworks in the project will be exhibited in the dining area of The Cleveland Corner. It is free entry for our 2 exhibitions in the festival. The project helps generating revenue to participating artists, all exhibiting original artworks will be available for sales. Artists will be contributing part of the sales of their artworks to Uncooked Culture for its further journey of this project (Circus Terminal) and to Staithes Festival.

WHAT I HAVE BEEN DOING IN THE UK FOR 'UNCOOKED ART' THIS YEAR, A POP-UP MISSION...outdoor...indoor...

After I had been dragging my medium size suitcase and bags with the number of artwork growing in them, from Atlantic to Pacific - back and forth between London and 8 of our STOPS until our last worldwide-STOP in the capital city of Paramaribo in Suriname, I have been encouraged that ‘Circus Terminal Worldwide’ should to be taken further and continue its Mobility/Accessibility & Inspiration to wider community!

WHAT I HAD BEEN COLLABORATING WITH OTHER ARTISTS AND 'MAKE IT HAPPEN' IN 8 COUNTRIES FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS

The artworks suitcase and bags had exploded in various sizes of art space, from shop size to museum hall, in 8 countries with hands from both some of our oversea artists who were traveling along and local artists helping to fit those out numbers of artworks in the space. The achievement from the collaboration that proved the efficient function of sustainable artists’ community was a trophy of the project!

Why those places? The Bags Lady’s project destiny had been led by some artists who jumped on the deck and were brave enough to raise their hands volunteering to co-chef this art project in their home town with our inspiring exhibition and creative community-based activities. The story of the suitcase and the relay way of collaboration had attracted the media in those countries the project was held.

Now I and the project have returned HOMEand decided to further this journey domestically in the UK, started from a local spots at a drag-able range from Portobello Road Market in London. The plan is rotating all these artworks with additional larger format artworks to show here and there in varianst of form, including taking artworks on big wheels with artist-crews traveling in a camper van to jump in art festivals outside London. The vehicle will be used as an extension of the travelling exhibition/gallery inside main space with around 500(+) artworks. The ambition is much larger than her suitcase and the possibility is even larger than ambition with everyone’s support!

The UK journey has already begun! The Bags Lady’s mission is flexible (sizes & sites wise) and is possible to enlarge the dream.
