Hospital Radio Fox is a free service provided to the patients and staff of the Leicester Royal Infirmary and The Glenfield Hospital. We broadcast 24 hours a day every day of the year. We receive no official funding from any source.
We were formed in 1988 and are fast approaching our 28th Birthday. This year we are aiming to raise £10,000 in order to replace our aging audio desk. We have actively raised money towards our target by holding regular events and approached local businesses for donations. However we are still a long way off reaching our goal. Our present audio desk (who we fondly refer to as Alice) is now an old lady who is well past retirement.
Every penny we receive will go towards our audio desk - no one gets paid- we are all volunteers. Our project will ensure the service provided reaches those in need of it.
Hospital Radio Fox provides those who find themselves in hospital, sometimes with little or no moral support, with a friendly voice. Our intention is to keep our listeners entertained during their stay in hospital. Our presenters visit the wards daily to collect requests for evening patients request shows.
Music is a recognised form of therapy, and there is a vibrant mix of music genres throughout the week within our programme schedule. There is something for everyone. Radio Fox shows and presenters have won national awards for their broadcasting
