Athlete needs funds for Paralympic Skeleton

Raising funds to compete for Great Britain in the sport of Para-Skeleton. I want to compete in the European races in January 2015.

New stretch target

Any extra money will go towards helping me purchase my own equipment and eventually a sled.

Currently these are provided at a small cost, but buying is the long term aim, although a new sled is around £10,000!

I'm raising funds to compete for Great Britain in the sport of Para-Skeleton. I want to compete in the European races of the World Cup series in January 2015.

I am competing in disability sport as I am an amputee, having lost my leg at 15 years old. I'd grown up playing sport and so developed into a Paralympic volleyball player, who competed at London 2012 Paralympic Games for Great Britain and winning over 90 caps for my country.

Skeleton is an amazing sport and I was made aware of a Paralympic version starting and I got involved and funded myself to make my debut in early 2014 in Igls, Austria - after one week's training I managed to win Bronze in the first ever official para-skeleton race and I want to build on that in this exciting new sport which is hoping to be added into the Winter Paralympics soon.

The World Cup races take place in January 2015, beginning in Austria for one week, then travelling to St Moritz, Switzerland for the next leg of the World Cup series. I've costed each trip out and I will need about £500 for Austria and £500 for Switzerland. This includes flights, accommodation, food and race entry and equipment hire.

It's a great opportunity to be a part of something really exciting, that's going to be a huge story in a few years time - any support is well received and will spur me on to being the best that I can be!
