1st Jan 2009 the day our lives fell apart. My wife Rebecca had a massive asthma attack at 6 O'clock in the morning. I rang the emergency services who talked me through CPR and got an ambulance on its way. Despite my best efforts she died in my arms. The shock and disbelief set in, then if the horror could not get any worse I had to wake and explain to our 13 year old daughter that she would never see her mother again.
I have spent the last 7 years trying to raise Lydia to the best of my ability as a single parent. She has turned out pretty well and is now attending university studying Psychology.
The purpose of my appeal is twofold - I would like to raise money for Asthma UK to help prevent another family being ripped apart by this horrible disease. I would also like to raise money to continue Rebeccas dream of running an antiques store.
Both myself and Rebecca had a hobby of visiting antique fairs , auctions and car boot sales and we both had a dream of starting an antique buisness , we were talking about the possiblity on days before her death. Now that Lydia has left home I need to push myself to complete our dream and stop sitting around feeling depressed and start living life .
