Art Vs Austerity is a community arts event organised by The Chichester & Bognor Green Party which will be taking place at The Chichester Foyer on Saturday 11th July 2015.
The aim of the event is to raise awareness of the negative impact government cuts are having on communities and public services in the UK through positive and creative community action.
People will have from 10am to 4pm to create a piece of art on the theme of austerity/anti-austerity and from 4.30pm there will be an auction of all artwork created to raise money for The Chichester Foyer (http://foyer.net/foyers/chichester-foyer/) - a not-for-profit organisation that helps to transform the circumstances of young people who have faced barriers in their lives. We will also be collecting donations throughout the day.
All ages and abilities welcome as well as all art forms - paintings, drawings, collage, sculpture, photography, music, origami etc. For those who are not able to stay for the whole day there will be a 'doodle station' and graffiti wall and other activities running throughout the day.
We are encouraging people to bring their own art materials but would like to provide as much as we can so that everyone can participate - which is where you come in!
We need to raise at least £200 by the 11th July to:
- Buy art materials (canvases, paper, paints, brushes, pencils, collage materials, scissors, glue etc.)
- Cover publicity costs (flyers/posters)
- Provide some refreshments for participants
- Offer to The Chichester Foyer for letting us use their facilities
Any money that isn't spent on any of the above will go to The Chichester Foyer.
Please donate what you can to help make the the inaugural Art Vs Austerity event as successful as it can be and if you are able to attend the event and make some art we would love to see you!
We will also accept art material donations.
