Art-on-Wheels is a poignant visual arts project using techniques such as photography, printing and textiles to produce a weighty tome (big bound book) for exhibition and celebration within the community.
An inter-generational project focusing on tackling loneliness and isolation for older members of the Colne Valley community, enabling young and old to build relationships using storytelling to celebrate the valley’s heritage/tradition, including handing down of traditional craft skills, reinforcing a sense belonging.
Linking with existing organisations like Meals-on-Wheels; Art-on-Wheels will take a deliver a “pizza box” art kit and activities into the homes of local residents, using these as a spring board for collaborative textiles based workshops.
Each personal story will produce a leaf of the tome which will be bound using traditional book binding techniques. The tome will celebrate personal creativity and community strength.
