We are two students based in Brighton who are participating in Brighton University's Creative's Fair running between the 8th and 11th of December in Grand Parade. We are asking fellow students, staff and creative community to donate some of their work or crafts in order to raise money for the current refuge crisis. All the funds obtained from this sale will go directly to the Hummingbird project and Art Refuge, two UK charities providing hands on help to support refugees that have made it into Europe. Hummingbird project has shown extensive direct support in the camps in Calais and Dunkirk, acting aswell as a passage for volunteers to go and provide help. Art Refuge set up a safe space in Calais for people, especially unaccompanied minors, to have a space to express themselves through art. Both organisations are still working even after Calais was destroyed, so this funding will help them develop their future projects.
We are asking for your help to donate any spare change you might have in order to cover costs of making artwork and crafts for people willing to donate their work to our stall as well as paying for the stall at the University. We believe that art plays an important role in working as a coping mechanism and bringing people together as art is an international language understood by all. We hope to play a small part in making a change, and doing our role in helping in any way we see possible.
Thank you for your support. If you would like to donate any arts and crafts directly to the stall, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
We are very grateful for your help. :)
