Extremism in today’s world is not limited to a single faith, culture or organization. Various forms of extremism are threatening the cultural vibrancy and community integration prevalent in our neighborhoods and cities. Communities and government departments must work together to fight this menace. With this in mind, Anti-Radicalisation Mentoring and Awareness Network [AMAN] has been set up to:
- Build individual and community resilience against all forms of extremism;
- Promote fundamental British values as universally acceptable ethos; and
- Create strong sense of belonging and civic responsibility amongst our future generations.
To achieve its objectives, AMAN offers a number of interventions such as interactive key stage lessons and debating competitions for children, training, seminars and workshops for teachers and parents; and mass media campaigns to reach wider communities.
This funding application is for a series of ‘Interschool Public Speaking Competitions’ aimed at creating awareness among children and adults about the key social issues within our neighborhoods and the ways to tackle them through the promotion of British values.
