To purchase ex NHS Ambulances and drive them to The Gambia installing them in suitable clinics which serve a large number of villages.
Vehicles need to be purchased insured converted and maintained prior to the start of the run as well as administrative costs incurred whilst travelling through the various countries and ferry crossings.
In September 2014 the Ambulance pictured was found not working in a Clinic in The Gambia. 1 week and £200+ later it was back in service.
There is a chronic shortage of ambulances to serve the many clinics.
It is our intention to purchase ex NHS ambulance(s) and in January 2017 drive the vehicles post conversion from Nottingham to The Gambia.
A supply of spares will be maintained by us in The Gambia for future maintenance.
Each participant has agreed to put up £500 of their own money and will pay for their own board and lodgings during the trip / whilst in the Gambia / and their return flights.
This Project will help save lives in some of the poorest regions of The Gambia.
