I suffer from a rare, poorly understood, and progressive health condition, and mindfulness has been an incredible help to me. I am no longer able to work, but I am an accreddited mindfulness and compassion teacher, and I try to use the energy I do have to teach mindfulness and compassion to others. I usually teach mindfulness with a friend in a town nearby, but I would like to put on a mindfulness course closer to home (Scunthorpe) for those who would not normally be able to afford to go on a mindfunless course, but who would benefit from participating in a mindfulness.
Initally, I am hoping to put on a mindfulness course for upto 15 people . This course will be based on the Mindfulness Association's Mindfulness-Based Living Course, and would consist of a 2hr 15min session once a week for eight week, a full-day of practice, and a follow up session a month after the course finishes. To put this courses on, I would need money for venue hire, marketing resources, resources for participants (booklets and mp3s), and a few refreshments for course participants (tea, coffee, and some biscuits, etc...). Other than paying for getting to and from the venue, my time will be completely free. The marketing material would be aimed at low-wage workers, those caring for others in some way for others, and those suffering from chronic pain or illness.
