During his second visit to Malawi in 2009, Christian was doing a trek for charity FOMO when he met Thomas, a young Malawian guy in one of the orphanages he was helping raise money for. After spending a day with Thomas teaching him how to deliver a very basic sports massage, he recognised the potential in Thomas and saw an opportunity to change someones life.
Christian (Co owner of Active Health) has since organised and raised cash to buy the tools and equipment needed to build the clinic from scratch, paying for him to fly all the way from Malawi to Manchester to study and gain his level 5 Diploma in Clinical Sports Therapy. After supporting this project for 5 years our pot of money has run dry, and now we need your help to complete the project.
After consulting with Thomas, there is still a great deal to be done to finish off the clinic. There is a need for plumbing for a toilet, a hand sink and a small shower cubicle. Electricity to power the building and equipment. Chairs for the clients waiting area, a massage couch for treatments, and curtains for privacy. Also all the office and clinic necessities such as desk and chair, stationary laptop and phone.
Active Health Malawi Clinic's goal is to assist those in pain or injury back in to work. If the breadwinner cannot work in Malawi, then a family will have no money to eat.
If our target funds can be realised there is a possibility to build a visitors base where therapists can go over to volunteer in the clinic for a working holiday in the beautiful Mulanje.
