We have received some great support from one of our regular funders for this work. However we are £2,500 short of being able to complete all necessary changes and are looking for help to bridge this gap by funding the new accessible kitchen area. We plan to buy a new Ikea kitchen with high mounted oven, cupboards and sink. However, if for any unforeseen reason we are unable to purchase these specific items we will purchase suitable alternatives. If there are surplus funds left over, we will use the donations to purchase other much needed resources to continue our renovation project at the centre.
Marble Hill Playcentres has served our local community for over 40 years providing active play opportunities and support to thousands of children and their families. The adventure playground (with zip wire, big swings, fire pit) is the only one in our borough.
Local volunteer parents took over the running of the Playcentres when the council withdrew about 15 years ago and we have been a registered charity since 2005. We run on donations from trusts and local charities and grant funding organisations and charge a nominal amount on the gate for entry (and provide free access to children with additional needs and low income families).
The main hall will include the open plan kitchen enabling the children to be fully involved in all cooking activities. Currently the kitchen is located in a small shared office space which prevents any children from taking part.
We are passionate about making the improvements to the Adventure Playground before our main season starts. Any help would be massively appreciated and make a tremendous difference.
