The Abu Hanifa Institute for Shariah & Arabic Studies, Istanbul, Turkey
The Abu Hanifa Institute for Shariah & Islamic studies is based in Istanbul Turkey. It has been opened by leading scholars from Syria and is headed by Shaykh Rudwan Al-Kaheel. The Syrians have migrated to Turkey in huge numbers and have brought their scholars also. These scholars are aiming to establish the next generation of Students of Knowledge and future Ulema.
For two years now, working only with donations and limited government funding, the Institute has now close to 100 students from all over the world. The excellence in quality sets it aside from all the other institutions - something Syria and Damascus especially was well known for prior to the war. With over 10 teachers, specialists in their own field with 20/30 years experience and with doctorates and PHDs to their name - this Institute aims not only to develop Ulema for the future but also to drive change in the Ummah through traditional methods.
It is worth noting that none of the teachers are paid. They simply buy in to Shaykh Rudwan's vision for change.
The Institute offers the following:
- At least 7 hours per day of studying, 6 days per week
- A professional building / masjid with classrooms
- Food for students; breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Basic dorm rooms for single students
All of the above, absolutely free. The problem however is that it is unsustainable. After speaking to the Shaykh he continues to refuse to charge for studying. He has however agreed to take sadaqa and zakat to help clear the debt of the institute and to continue to offer the services mentioned above.
This fund is being organised by Shakil Khalid, a student of this Institute. I am happy to take any questions in regards to this Institute on my Facebook public profile. As a student here I can verify daily - the operations of the Institute and the confidence I have in the both the set up and vision of this Institute but also the execution of it.
I implore you to buy in to this vision this Ramadan. Most people cannot make the sacrifices required to be Students of Knowledge due to personal circumstances and situations. However if you feel the Ummah needs change - please be apart of that change by supporting this Institute and supporting this vision.
"Verily! Allah will never change the condition of the people until they change it themselves".
Please donate generously and make clear whether it is zakat or sadaqa you are giving. May Allah SWT bless your efforts and intentions in helping to eradicate ignorance from the Ummah and revive the vision and intentions of our great Ulema.
