Our Stretch Target
If we receive more than the £1500 it will be donated to the five charities which GOTB is supporting this year: - WATER SURVIVAL BOX (helping those who have lost everything in disaster zones)- BLOOD BIKES, (the medical courier service for NHS hospitals)- FORCE, (the Devon cancer charity at Wonford Hospital in Exeter)- LYME REGIS CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FUND- LYME REGIS PLAY PARK
Guitars on the Beach was started last year. In an attempt to break the record for Britain's Biggest Band, 2,276 guitarists (and ukulele, mandolin, and banjo players as well) came to the beach on Lyme Regis to play Buddy Holly's 'Rave On'. It was a day full of music with bands on stage before and after the record attempt and buskers around the town.
The players were aged from 4 to 84, beginners and professionals and not just from all over the UK but France and the US as well. We had singles, bands, groups of friends, families of three generations all playing and having a wonderful time. This year we will have bands on stage from 11am - 11pm, with the players on the sand joining in from around 4pm.
WHO ARE WE?GOTB is a FREE event, organised entirely by a small team of volunteers aged from 21 to 70, some musicians, some who just do it for the craic. Any surplus funds raised on the day through raffles etc goes to charity.
WHY ARE WE CROWD FUNDING?Because we don't make a charge for being part of GOTB, we have no source of revenue. We have some very generous supporters who give their work for free, but we still have things to pay for like the PA system, stage lights, St John Ambulance, signs and all sorts of other costs.
We will be hugely grateful for whatever you can donate, be it £1 or £100 or anything in between.
