We are  Asayatsixteen, a political  movement that aims  to win the vote for 16 year olds  in UK elections and referendums.  In the UK today,  we allow 16 year olds to have kids, get married and sign up  to the army, but we don't allow them to vote in the elections that define their lives .  Many countries such as Austria, Norway and Slovakia all allow 16 year olds to vote,  and in these countries 16 year olds play an active and positive role in democracy, making well reasoned and thoughtout choices about who to vote for.  Not only do they do this, but their turnout is often the same as other groups, if not higher. So many of the arguments that prevent 16 year olds from voting have already been disproven, that we believe it is time for Britain to  improve and strengthen it's democracy by allowing 16 year olds their right to vote.
